I’m Mike. I’m the trapeze catcher in our relationship. I have social science degrees with the corresponding do-gooder mentality. I consider the first season of Ed (2003-2004) to be the high point in American television. I appreciate a good steak or a fine salmon and am a coneisseur of cane sugar sodas. I like to distract myself with American humor, music of many varieties, and sports. I follow Kansas City Royals baseball, BYU football and basketball, KU basketball, and Kansas City Chiefs football.
Caring for my wife during her illness has changed me forever. I’m hopeful that we can make some connections that will help others struggling with, recovering from, or reminiscing about similar experiences.
[Editor’s Note from Sarah: I know I’m biased, but I have to add that Mike is an incredibly sensitive husband and father. He doesn’t always know how to express it verbally, but he is always there when we need him. If the dishes need to be washed, he washes them. If the kids want an extra bedtime story, they know to bring their pleas to him and they’ll be heard. We love this guy and don’t know what we’d do without him.]
